BHOPAL: In a bid to interact and sort out problems of advocates, Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is organising a Vakeel Panchayat at his official residence here on Sunday, officials said.
All the office-bearers of state bar council of Madhya Pradesh, bar associations, law officers working with the advocate general, additional advocate general, among others, are expected to participate in the Panchayat.
Three months back, Chouhan had said in Sagar that he is going to organise a Vakeel Panchayat. CM made this statement at a function organised to honour him by Sagar District Bar Association.
For last couple of years, the advocates’ bodies were demanding better infrastrucute in courts across the state.
So far, 21 panchayats had been organised in which Chouhan interacted with different sections of society. Such meetings started off with Mahila Panchayat on July 30, 2006 followed by Kisan Panchayat, Adivasi Panchayat, Van Panchayat, Anusuchit Jati Panchayat, Kotwar Panchayat, Laghu Uddhami Panchayat, Khel Panchayat, Shilpi Evem Karigar Panchayat, Kisan Mahapanchayat (Jamboree Maidan), Nishaktjan Panchayat, Machhua Panchayat and other panchayats. The last Panchayat of senior citizens was held on April 11.
